SUMMER SERVICE DAYS with Freedom NJ

MS & HS | AUG 15-17, 2020

Summer Service Days with Freedom NJ:

We want service to be a part of our culture here at Mercer County Young Life. We have been presented a unique opportunity to work with Freedom NJ to build out some skateboards and possibly ramps to help with their non-profit. The last day, we will have a ceremony to give out skateboards we built to local kids. Everything will be done with social distance measures & safety protocols. About Freedom NJ:

Freedom NJ is a nonprofit that uses skateboarding to teach at-risk youth in the Trenton area valuable life lessons about perseverance, goal-setting, and acceptance!!

What to bring:

A face mask.​ Clothing & shoes that can get dirty​ ( and possibly thrown out). On MONDAY, wear WHITE for our Color Wars! Water bottle to stay hydrated as we will be outdoors for most activities. Picnic blanket or beach towel to sit on.

Optional: camera, sunglasses, & a hat

We will also be having a FOOD PANTRY​ donation collection for a mobile food pantry that is taking place. Any of those items will be collected daily.

Cost Options:

(includes T-shirt, daily lunch & snack that will be individually packaged)

We know that these days have hit some families hard. Because of this,​ scholarships are always available.If at all possible, though, please make sure to submit the following cost options:

  • BASIC: $65
  • W/ Donation to Freedom NJ: $150
  • W/ Donation to Freedom NJ & Young Life: $200
  • Anything above and beyond $200, please designate in the notes how you would like for the money to be donated. (ex: $300 for Freedom NJ, $200 for Young Life)

What to expect:

This will be the best week of your life!! Attended by over 400 Middle School students from all over the East Coast.

What to bring:

Casual clothes, a jacket, clothing & shoes that can get dirty ( and possibly thrown out), athletic clothes & shoes, swimsuit, extra towel, snacks, & cash for a meal on the way there & back, a snack at the camp snack bar & optional purchases from the camp store.

Optional: camera, sunglasses, & rain jacket

Blankets and sheets a towel and pillows are provided by the property
